Ways to Get Involved
A shomer (plural: shomrim) is a person who prayerfully or mindfully accompanies Jewish deceased between death and burial. You may choose to serve through just one or several congregations in the Austin area.

Each Austin Shmirah member congregation appoints at least one Congregational Shmirah Coordinator to schedule shifts for its deceased. If your clergy/congregation has authorized you in this role, please sign up here. (Contact the Area Coordinator for more information.) Note that a shmirah coordinator can also be a shomer.
